While these are constantly with us, the sales tax issue has become a bit more compelling since "Wayfair vs. South Dakota" was decided by the Supreme Court in favor of South Dakota on June 21, 2018. The Court's 5–4 majority decision overturned the 1992 decision in "Quill vs. North Dakota", ruling that the physical presence rule decided in Quill was "unsound and incorrect" in the current age of internet technology.
Of course, you don't ever wish to have to deal with adverse sales tax audit findings. To help you achieve this goal, we can help you choose and implement a sales and use tax solution extension for Microsoft Dynamics Business Central. Current offerings include Avalara "Avatax", CCH "SureTax" or Vertex "Tax Links".
All three providers offer excellent solutions. Avalara was first to the market, and is actually the solution we use to automate our sales tax processing within our own implementation of Business Central. All three providers also offer complementary solutions for tax certificate management, sales tax preparation, etc. These solutions can add further efficiency to your sales and use tax compliance efforts. Since we partner with all three of these solution providers, we can help you implement any of these as well.
We essentially perform the "client-side" of the implementation and interface on your behalf directly with the solution providers' "Client Account Manager" assigned to your implementation. Once we've had a chance to discuss your situation, and the scope of our engagement, we'll be able to provide you with a quote for our involvement in the project.
These sales tax solutions are available on Microsoft AppSource. To find the respective apps from within Business Central, use the "finder" (i.e. magnifying glass) to find "Extensions". From the Extensions page, click on the "Extension Marketplace" action and search for the keyword "tax".
